Rankody

Turn your Shopify blog into an organic sales channel

BETA

Most Shopify stores treat the built-in blog as an afterthought, which is exactly why it works: consistent, genuinely useful articles about the problems your products solve are how stores rank for searches that ads get expensive for. Rankody writes and publishes those articles to your store's blog automatically.

The connection uses a custom app access token you create in your Shopify admin, scoped to your online store's content: no storefront password, no app-store install. Shopify support is currently in beta: validated against Shopify's Admin API, with early stores getting hands-on help from support.

How the Shopify connection works

  1. 1

Create a custom app in Shopify

In Shopify admin, open Settings → Apps and sales channels → Develop apps, create an app named “Rankody”, and give it write access to your online store's blog content.

  2. 2

Paste your store domain and access token

In Rankody's Integrations panel, choose Shopify and paste your myshopify.com domain and the app's Admin API access token. We verify the token against your store before anything else happens.

  3. 3

    Approve and publish

Articles arrive on your store blog with formatting, images, and internal links to your other articles in place, as drafts for review or published on schedule.

What lands in your Shopify blog, field by field

Articles are created through the Shopify Admin API (version 2024-07) against your store's blog. The custom app token is scoped to online-store content, so nothing in this integration can read customers or orders.

Why a Shopify store blogs at all

Product and collection pages compete for buying keywords, where ads are expensive and every competitor is bidding. Articles compete for the much larger pool of research queries that happen before a purchase decision: comparisons, how-tos, sizing and material questions, and the endless 'best X for Y' searches.

Those readers are cheaper to reach and easier to convert once they land, because the article can answer the objection and then point at the product. The catch is cadence. One post a quarter does nothing; the sites that win publish consistently for months. Automating the writing is the only way most one-person stores hold that pace.

What every article includes

Regardless of where it publishes, each Rankody article is long-form (typically 2,000 to 4,000 words), written from keyword research on your actual market, passed through a fact-check that verifies claims against cited sources, illustrated with properly attributed images, and linked to your existing articles. A monthly re-linking pass then keeps older posts pointing at newer ones, so the blog compounds instead of fragmenting.

Shopify questions

Does blogging actually matter for a Shopify store?+
For search traffic, yes. Product and collection pages rank for buying keywords, but blog articles are how stores capture the much larger pool of research searches, comparisons, how-tos, and “best X for Y” queries, and route those readers to products.
What does “beta” mean for the Shopify integration?+
The integration is implemented and tested against Shopify's Admin API, with less production mileage than our WordPress path so far. Early stores get priority support while we put miles on it.
Which blog do articles go to?+
Your store's primary blog. If you run multiple Shopify blogs and need a specific one targeted, tell support when you connect and we'll set it up.
What can the access token actually reach?+
Only your online store's blog content. The custom app is scoped to write articles; it cannot read customers, orders or payment data, and you can revoke it from your Shopify admin at any moment.
What URL do published articles get?+
Shopify's standard blog path: your-store.myshopify.com/blogs/<blog>/<article-handle>, or the same path on your custom domain. The handle comes from the article title, so titles are written to be readable as URLs.
